Blaylock Van
Rebranding a Legacy Investment Bank for the Modern Financial Market
Blaylock Van is the oldest continuously operating African-American-owned investment bank in the United States. As the firm evolved, the brand needed to reflect its legacy while presenting a more modern and credible presence in today’s financial market.
The Challenge
Blaylock Van had a strong history and reputation, but the existing brand and digital presence no longer reflected the firm’s stature or ambition.
The challenge was to modernise the identity while preserving the sense of heritage, trust, and credibility that defines the firm.
The Approach
The project focused on creating a refined brand system that balances legacy and modernity.
This included:
Designing a modernised visual identity
Developing a consistent brand system
Creating a website experience that communicates credibility and clarity
The goal was to strengthen Blaylock Van’s presence while ensuring the brand feels established, confident, and contemporary.
Brand & Website System
The visual system uses soft geometric forms and layered gradients to reflect learning, exploration, and growth.
This design language was applied consistently across both the brand identity and the website, ensuring a cohesive experience across digital touchpoints.
The website structure prioritises clarity and hierarchy, guiding visitors through the platform’s purpose and capabilities while maintaining a calm and approachable interface.
Together, the identity and website form a flexible system that supports Cosmo’s communication across product, marketing, and partner-facing materials.
Outcome
The result is a modernised brand and digital presence that reflects Blaylock Van’s legacy while positioning the firm confidently within the modern financial landscape.
The new system provides a strong foundation for communicating with clients, partners, and investors.
